Training & Education

Throughout the year, Scott and Lindee take on a limited number of outside horses for training. These horses are exposed to a comprehensive groundwork program and ridden work that includes being regularly ridden outside the arena, tracking and working bison, engaging with the Mechanical Cow, tracking the roping dummy, and developing comfort with swinging a rope.

There is a strong emphasis on horsemanship, focusing on building a horse’s confidence and ensuring they feel secure and willing in what they are being asked to do.

Horses in our care receive quality feeding twice daily, including Johnson’s Low GI feed and additional lucerne hay. Each horse is yarded individually to prevent injuries, and shoeing by a qualified farrier is available if needed.

Campaigned Cow Horses

We also accept a small number of aged event horses for Reined Cow Horse Futurity, Derby, and other aged events. These horses are consistently hauled to work cattle and, where possible, taken to clinics. Depending on the owner's preferences, horses may be ridden during the clinic or afterwards.

Creating Thoughtful, Willing Horses

The mental aspect of working with a horse is just as important as the physical. Our goal is to influence how your horse thinks about his job. There is a significant difference between a horse doing a job despite you versus doing it for you—and that distinction is what matters most to us.

One of the most amazing things about horses is their sensitivity. You can sit on a horse's back, turn your head, and he will feel it all the way through the saddle. The ultimate goal is to do less and less with a horse—eventually, it will take just a thought for him to prepare to respond.

We work with horses for a variety of reasons: loading or floating issues, groundwork, saddling problems, halter breaking, handling, working cattle, riding on the trail, or building a solid foundation from the start—we cover it all.

Understanding how each individual horse learns and starting from where the horse is in their journey opens up endless possibilities. Once you begin to meet the horse where they are, the horse can adjust, grow, and progress in ways you never thought possible.
